FLORENCE, Miss. (WJTV) — Florence Police arrested a woman for driving with a suspended license.
While on the scene, authorities called the Clinton Bomb Squad because of what appeared to be an explosive device found in her car.
Florence Police Chief Richard Thomas said the traffic stopped happened around 1 a.m. on Highway 49 North. Police said they pulled the driver over because of a broken headlight. She was asked to show proper ID. Chief Thomas said she gave the officer a license that was not hers.
They later determined she was driving someone else’s car.
While searching the car, they found the suspicious device. The Clinton Bomb Squad came on the scene to examine it. Chief Thomas said the device was more like a homemade firecracker.
The bomb squad set the device off without anyone getting hurt.
Police took the driver to the Rankin County Jail.
