Pelahatchie child struck, killed by car

PELAHATCHIE, Miss. (WJTV) – A child is dead after being hit by a car Wednesday night.

We’re told that 1-year-old Kyng Brace was hit outside of a home on Second Street near Highway 80 in Pelahatchie.

According to the police report, the driver of a Dodge truck was headed west on Second Street around 8 p.m. The driver said it was very dark, and before he could stop, he noticed something small in the road. He said he swerved to try to miss the child but was unable to stop in time.

The child’s mother told police that family members tried to stop Kyng from running out into the street, but they were unable to catch him in time.

Visitation for Kyng is set for Friday, April 1, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wolf Funeral Services located on Highway 80 West in Morton.

His funeral will be held at the same location on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 2 p.m.
