JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — On the first day of Confederate Heritage Month, some Mississippi lawmakers gathered at the Capitol urging their colleagues to take a stand against the state flag.
The group of lawmakers there want everyone to know they are not backing down on the issue.
They are putting forth a resolution to change the flag. The suspension resolution calls for further consideration of Senate Bill 2147. It calls for establishing a commission to redesign the state flag.
The only rule is that the new design cannot contain the Confederate battle emblem.
