JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Coalition for Economic justice held a press conference at the capitol today.
They met to announce the launch of a multi-front campaign against what they call the “2016 Confederate War on Human Rights.”
One member told us that the group opposes the bill that would turn over control of the Jackson Airport to the state.
They say the airport is operating in the black and should be left alone.
“It doesn’t improve Jackson to let someone else take over Jackson. Jackson isn’t for sale and we don’t need Jackson to be for sale for it to improve and so we’re against that, we’re against that,” said Chokwe Lumumba, an attorney, and a member of the Coalition for Economic Justice.
The group is also opposed to a bill that would create a board to make decisions on infrastructure projects in Jackson.
That board would be appointed by the governor.
