Jackson, Miss. (WJTV) – Thursday morning, some Jackson workers plan to strike. They say they want minimum wage in the state to be raised from $7.25 to $15.00.
Fast-food workers and other labor and community organizations plan to protest at two different metro McDonald’s restaurants.
The first strike will be at the McDonald’s on Lakeland Drive in Jackson at 8:15 a.m. The second will take place at the McDonald’s on Terry Road in Jackson at 5:15 p.m.
Workers say the state needs a higher minimum wage, so they can live and pay their fair share of taxes. Some of them also say they want union rights.
We’ll be following the rallies all day, so stay with WJTV as we cover the group’s quest to get the minimum wage raised.
