BOONEVILLE, Miss. (AP) – A Mississippi woman has been arrested after officials say she tried to smuggle tobacco and drugs into a jail using a Bible.

Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar tells media outlets in a statement Wednesday that 51-year-old Sandy Reece of Boonesville is charged with two counts of introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.

Tolar says Reece tried to drop off the Bible to an inmate in the county jail.

Upon inspection, jailers found tobacco and a fentanyl patch hidden inside the book.

Reece was taken into custody. It isn’t immediately clear if she has an attorney.
