GREENE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — A man convicted of manslaughter and released on early release supervision is arrested once again. This time, he’s jailed for allegedly attempting to bring contraband into a prison.
42-year-old Johnny Ray Conner is charged with the crime. The incident happened at the South Mississippi Correctional Facility in Greene County.
According to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Conner was carrying a garbage bag when an officer checking the perimeter spotted him Thursday night on the prison grounds. The bag contained cell phones, batteries, chargers, headsets, and earbuds.
Conner was convicted of manslaughter in Lauderdale County in 2011. He had been out since November on early release supervision.
MDOC has started the revocation proceedings so that Conner can return to prison.
