Man arrested for allegedly starting fire near mobile home in Rankin County

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — A man is caught after authorities said he allegedly started a fire near a mobile home Tuesday morning.

Rankin County deputies arrested 40-year-old Demond Oran Alexander on Pursue Road off Clara Foote Road.

Deputies received a phone call around 3 a.m. about a domestic situation on Johnson Circle. Alexander allegedly piled some of his wife’s items and some of his clothes behind their mobile home and set it on fire. Deputies said when they arrived on the scene, some of the mobile home’s skirting was starting to burn.

Officials said six people were inside. Deputies were able to put the fire out before it was able to spread.

Alexander is facing charges of arson, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and domestic violence.

No one was injured.
