Caregiver accused of taking jewelry worth more than $45K

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (AP) – Police in Pass Christian say they’ve recovered more than $45,000 in stolen jewelry and fishing equipment and arrested a woman on a charge of grand larceny.

Police Chief Tim Hendricks said Monday 26-year-old Ashley Gibson, of Gulfport, was a caregiver, housekeeper and had other jobs when the items disappeared over several months.

Hendricks tells The Sun Herald  the woman for whom Gibson worked contacted police about the missing items.

Police arrested Gibson on Friday after most of the items were recovered from pawn shops across Harrison County.

Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner set Gibson’s bond at $25,000.

Gibson was released on bond shortly after she was booked at the Harrison County jail Friday night.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Gibson.
