1 arrested after woman carjacked, shot on Congress Street

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Police have made an arrest in a carjacking investigation.

Police said 29-year-old Daniel Henry is charged with auto theft, armed robbery of an individual and aggravated assault.

Police went to Congress Street after a woman was shot in the hand and carjacked at 5:40 a.m. Friday. The suspect left the scene in the victim’s black Infiniti.

Jackson Police said they learned that the suspect was in a red Nissan Altima before he approached the victim.

Police determined that red vehicle was taken during a carjacking that happened Thursday night in North Jackson.

JPD said they were led to Louisiana Avenue where they found both vehicles behind separate abandoned houses. JPD detained three people for questioning on Virginia Avenue.

Henry was then charged in connection with Friday’s carjacking. The other two people were released.

Police said both incidents are still under investigation.
