JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) —A man is being charged in a hit and run accident that left one person dead.

Police said Laertex Monshea Manyfield was arrested for culpable negligence manslaughter.

On Friday, officers went to the scene of an accident on I-55 South near Northside Drive. The crash involved a blue Ford F-150 and a white Dodge Ram.

Police said when they made it to the scene, the driver of the F-150, James Freeman, was trapped inside. After emergency crews got Freeman out of the truck, he was rushed to the hospital where he died shortly after arriving.
