Bus driver, student fight on Hinds County school bus

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — Another fight caught on camera. This time, the fight was between a school bus driver, a student, and an adult.

The video, sent to us by a WJTV viewer, shows a student on a Hinds County school bus arguing with a bus driver.

School officials tell WJTV the incident happened Tuesday during the afternoon bus route. We’re told it starts with 18-year-old Tamara Daniels. Police said she is not a passenger, but the older sister of a student. In the video you see a 13-year-old student stand up and the bus driver, Tracy Moulds, lunges.

Edward Police Chief Torrance Mayfield said the driver was pulled down the steps. The 13-year-old continued to hit her in the head.

According to the Hinds County School District, the cause of the fight is under investigation.

Durham School Services operates the Hinds County bus fleet.  We’re told that Moulds no longer works for Durham.

Durham released this statement about the incident:

Safety is a core value of the company and, as such, we are taking this matter very seriously.  We are engaged in an internal investigation and working with the authorities. At this time the driver is not performing route duties.

Cheif Mayfield said both sides have filed simple assault charges on one another. They are expected to be in court later this month.
