‘Peace Run’ makes pit stop in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A global torch relay called the Peace Run stopped in Jackson this morning at the Relevant Empowerment.

The philosophy of the Peace Run is that peace begins with an individual and the runners keep the torch lit throughout their journey.

They traveled through Jackson and made a stop in Vicksburg.

The run is part of the North American route and the runners will travel from the east to the west coast and even into Canada.

“We learn from the communities that we visit we learn how they feel peace is important we learn how peace finds life in their communities and we carry that with us in our torch and in our hearts as we continue,” said Salil Wilson, the Executive Director of the Peace Run.

Volunteers for the Peace Run have traveled 35,000 miles on seven continents.
