JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) –Jackson Police said when blighted homes are demolished, it’s a victory for the city.
“We kind of killed two birds with one stone we have gotten rid of a lot of blighted properties, and also, we’ve lowered the number of properties where people take advantage and commit crime in,” Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance said.
City leaders said about 200 homes have been demolished; they said more homes are expected to be taken down.
Authorities credit the demolitions with already saving taxpayers $900,000, by making the community easier to police.
