Father, 2 children die in crash involving train

FLORA, Miss. (WJTV) — WJTV 12 is learning more about the the three people killed in a crash involving a train on Wednesday.

Police said 35-year-old Michael Allen was driving the truck that was hit. His son, 1-year-old Michael Allen, III was in the truck along with his stepdaughter, 7-year-old Miklah West.

There are flashing lights at the Kearney Road intersection where the crash happened. However, there are no railroad crossing arms.

As we have reported before, the Mississippi Department of Transportation says not every crossing qualifies. There are certain regulations and requirements for that kind of signage to go up.

The call came in around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. We’re told Allen had just picked the children up from daycare before it happened.

We talked to some of his relatives, however they did not want to go on camera. Their neighbors are asking everyone to keep them in mind, and continue to pray.

This accident has now launched an investigation by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and The Federal Railroad Administration.
