Trio steals ATM from Jackson Walgreens after unsuccessful attempt in Madison

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Law enforcement officers are investigating incidents were three people tried to steal ATMs from a Walgreens in Jackson and Madison.

Their first attempt happened in Madison, and police tell us that one was unsuccessful.

Jackson Police say suspects broke into the Walgreens on Meadowbrook Road Thursday morning. Jackson Police tell us three people broke into that store and stole an ATM.

Investigators say the thieves are traveling in a white van.

A similar incident also happened in Madison.

Madison Police tell us that around 3:42 a.m., the burglar alarm went off at the Walgreens on Highland Colony Parkway. Officers went to the scene and noticed that the front door had been pried open. Surveillance video showed that three people went inside and tied a chain around the ATM. They were not able to secure the chain around the machine, so they left the store.

Police said they left the scene in a white van. Authorities believe the white van was stolen from a Ridgeland business before they came to the Walgreens.
