JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jackson Police Department is on the hunt for the people responsible for breaking into a Jackson gas station.
We’re told nothing was taken but the method the crooks used to break in is familiar.
Crooks broke into the Jasco gas station on Woodrow Wilson Drive Monday morning.
“First time I see they bring a big white truck and a chain.”
JPD says four masked men used that chain and truck to rip the store’s door off.
They tried taking the ATM by ripping it apart, kicking it, and at one point wrapping a chain around it.
But, every attempt failed, so they took off.
Jasco Store Manager Lucky Singh couldn’t believe what he saw on camera.
“I was like shocked, you know. I never see this happen before,” said Singh.
But, we have seen this before in the Jackson Metro area.
Recently, thieves managed to steal ATMs from the Walgreens on Meadowbrook Road and the Western Express gas station on Fortification Street.
Both using chains and vehicles in a similar fashion.
WJTV asked Jackson Police Department’s Chief of Police Lee Vance if these crimes are connected; he says he doesn’t think so.
“We’ve had at least three in the short period of time from our investigations .We haven’t found any common denominators, though,” said Chief Vance.
“Police will catch them. Maybe, next week or so but they need to be careful now,” said Singh.
We are working with the Jackson Police Department on suspect information, when we get it we will pass it along.
