BRANDON, Miss. – According to Entergy 437 customers are without power after an 18-wheeler snagged a power line, bringing down three power poles.

The incident happened around 4:57 Thursday evening at the corner of Shiloh Road and Shiloh Parkway.

Brandon Police Chief, William Thompson said the driver was unaware he snagged a line and kept going.

The driver pulled one power pole down on Shiloh Parkway and two poles down on Shiloh Road.

Entergy told us a transformer fell onto the cab of the 18-wheeler, but the driver was able to safely make it out of the truck.

Chief Thompson said nothing prohibits an 18-wheeler from coming through the Brandon neighborhood.

Shiloh Road is closed as three full Entergy work crews work to repair the power poles and downed lines.

Several people were walking outside shortly after the incident, one man told us he is doing his best to stay cool. “Mostly sweating, but like I said we’re just trying to stay cool and do as little as possible,” he said.

Entergy says the power should be completely restored by midnight.
