VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) – Security cameras will be installed at the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society shelter to deal with two increasing problems: vandalism and people abandoning pets after hours.
In the past week, someone pried a lock off a kennel, took a puppy from its mother and left the adult dog and other puppies free to roam the grounds near a U.S. highway.
Society executive director Georgia Lynn told The Vicksburg Post (http://bit.ly/1WUbhBg) animals are constantly being left at the humane society overnight. Sometimes animals aren’t contained and wander out onto the highway and other times the animals are placed in a confined area and are found dehydrated.
The shelter has Saturday hours so, Lynn said, people shouldn’t feel the need to abandon animals when the shelter is closed.
