WASHINGTON, D.C. (WJTV) — Democrats are conducting a sit-in on the House floor in Washington, D.C.
Congressman Bennie Thompson of Mississippi has joined his fellow Democrats in the demonstration. The sit-in is being held to push other lawmakers about the issues concerning gun control. The Democrats said they will continue to sit in the well of the House of Representatives until there is a vote on measures that will keep Americans safe from the dangers of gun violence.
The sit-in comes a little over a week after a gunman killed dozens of people at an Orlando night club, and injured dozens more.
