Bomb threat cleared at Courthouse, Chancery Building

UPDATE: The Hinds County Courthouse and the Hinds County Chancery Building are back open.

Authorities said they went to the buildings after a caller told them a bomb was placed in the hallway near Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith’s office in the courthouse. The caller also said a second bomb was near Special Magistrate Judge Faye Peterson’s office in the Chancery Courthouse.

The people were allowed to go back inside after the buildings were cleared of a threat.


JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) —  Law enforcement officers are at the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office.

Commander Tyree Jones said someone called in a bomb threat.

We’re told that the Hinds County Courthouse and the Hinds County Chancery Building have been evacuated.

Law enforcement officers have some of the area blocked off.

WJTV will update this story as soon as more details become available.
