JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The 13-year-old questioned in connection with a shooting that happened Tuesday in Jackson has been released.
Jackson Police said this case will be handed to a grand jury.
Around 5:46 p.m., police went to UMMC after they were notified that a shooting victim was being treated for injuries. Police said a 39-year-old woman was shot in the chest and the arm on Presidential Drive.
Investigators determined that several woman and teenagers got into an argument at a home on Presidential Drive. During the altercation, a 13-year-old boy that lived there grabbed a gun and fired several shots. We’re told he was not involved in the initial argument.
Police said others that live with the 13-year-old were allegedly assaulted. We’re told the woman who was shot did not live there and that she might have been involved in the fight.
No one has been arrested.
This investigation is ongoing, and the outcome will be forwarded to the Hinds County Grand Jury to be presented.
