JACKSON, Miss. – The Fourth of July took a violent turn around 2:30 in Northwest Jackson after a drive-by shooting.
The first shooting of two happened at North Hills Apartments.
“Both victims were sitting outside of an apartment building when a small white vehicle possibly a Kia Sephia occupied by four black males drove by and opened fire,” JPD Commander, Tyree Jones said.
One of the victims ran to a home on a nearby street, before being taken by ambulance to UMMC.
“Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to the legs they were transported to University Medical Center,” Jones said.
Jackson police also confirmed a third person was shot in the hand and taken to St. Dominic hospital.
Right now there is no motive for the drive-by shooting, but there was another unrelated shooting on Revels Avenue that turned deadly.
“There was an altercation at this location by the victim that is identified as Quinten Lynn,” Jones told WJTV.
31-year-old Lynn was shot multiple times by an assault rifle, his death marks the 33rd homicide for Jackson.
Now police are looking for Oslee Brown, 37, the suspected shooter.
“Mr. Brown came to this location, he and the victim had contact with one another not physical contact,” Jones said.
Both shootings are under investigation at this time, if you have any information on either of the shootings you are asked to call police.
