RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Traffic may be slow on Spillway Road over The Reservoir for the next few days.
There’s road work going on in that area.
That’s how Caleb McClain puts it.
He drove through Spillway Road over The Reservoir Tuesday.
“Usually it’s just backed up coming from Madison to go to Rankin, but, you know now it’s probably going to be both ways once that 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or so hits,” said McClain.
That may be true but at Little Willie’s Bar-B-Q where McClain works, the slower traffic could be a good thing.
When both lanes of the upper Spillway Road were shut down Tuesday for a wreck, it caused more than 30 people to turn into the restaurant, eat lunch, and wait out the gridlock.
That trend may continue.
The upper Spillway Road traffic headed into Ridgeland on the dam will be down to one lane for the next few days.
Drivers need to expect lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day of the repair.
“Especially I know that if there’s a lot of traffic going this way a lot of people cannot turn into the store. But, then again now that it will be slowed down, a lot of people may be coming in and stopping by since it’s almost at a dead standstill,” said McClain.
And the shop has a lot to offer from deviled eggs, pie, and of course bar-b-q.
WJTV’s Beth Alexander asks: “What’s your favorite?”
McClain: “The hamburger.”
We’re told the work is expected to take about four days to complete.
The bike trail on the upper road will also be closed.
