JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — City of Jackson officials said crews have paved more streets under the Operation Orange Cone Initiative.
The initiative is funded by the 1 percent sales tax. Four streets have been paved this week: Belle Glade Street, Kimwood Drive, Highland Place Drive, and Northcliff Drive.
Below is a list of other streets that have been repaved under the operation:
- Dixie Drive
- Sharp Street
- Petunia Street
- William Street
- Maddox Road
- McCluer Road from Siwell Road to Henderson Road
- Segura Avenue
- Valley Street
- Winn Street
- Brookhollow Drive
- Forest Hill Road
In recent weeks, the city has also completed paving four streets as a part of the interlocal agreement between the City of Jackson and Hinds County. During the first phase of work, Watkins Drive, Forest Hill Road, McCluer Road and Lynch Street Extension were paved.
Under phase two of the same agreement, crews will repave portions of Robinson Road, Mill Street and Woodrow Wilson.
City officials said they accepted bids earlier this month to complete major street work. They said more than $5 million of the 1 percent sales tax funds would be used to work on the following streets: Gallatin Street, Northside Drive, Ridgewood, Briarwood, McRaven and Raymond Road. A contract is expected to be awarded in August.
