BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) — Crossgates Lake was drained last year to remove the silt that had accumulated over the years. One year later, still no lake and now residents are asking when will it be refilled.
Now, there are ducks all over the place; some are scavenging for food and others sidestepping traffic.
Don Gober has lived in the area for 13 years. He and other neighbors are wondering when it will be refilled.
“Seems like they get out and do a little bit, and then it stops and then they start back up and then they stop,” he said.
He is also worried about aesthetics.
“Oh yeah, it’s affecting people’s property value’s too,” he said.
He told WJTV that one of his neighbors got his house appraised a couple of months ago, and the value dropped about $30,000.
We reached out to the lake developer Tom Underwood. He said they plan on refilling the lake in the fall.
