Man wanted for armed robbery turns himself in; JPD says suspect targeted Hispanics

UPDATE:  Police said Joseph Carpenter is now in custody.  He turned himself in at police headquarters. JPD said they also found a black Pontiac  that might be linked to Carpenter. 

Carpenter was wanted for two counts of armed robbery. They said he targeted Hispanics. The robbery Happened on August 8 on Northpointe Parkway

.In addition to that robbery, police also charged Carpenter in connection to a crime that happened on August 6.

They said he allegedly snatched a purse from a Hispanic woman on Northpointe Parkway. He will be charged with strong armed robbery in connection with that crime and in another incident that happened on June 19. They said an 83-year-old woman was robbed on Northpointe Parkway.

Below is a list of the crimes:

  •  June 19, 2016, Carrolton Apartments at 501 Northpointe Pkwy. (83 year old female
    assaulted and her purse snatched.)
  •  August 4, 2016, Trails Apartments at 600 Northpointe Pkwy. (2 Hispanics arm robbed.).
  •  August 6, 2016, Trails Apartments at 600 Northpointe Pkwy. (Hispanic female’s purse
    was snatched from her arm and assaulted.)

JPD said more charges and arrests are possible.


JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Police are looking for an armed robbery suspect.

Police said they are searching for 20-year-old Joseph Carpenter.

He is wanted for two counts of armed robbery. JPD said the robbery happened on August 8 on Northpointe Parkway.

Authorities said Carpenter targeted Hispanics. He drives a black Pontiac with the Mississippi license plate HUK 235.

Anyone who sees Carpenter or his car, contact police.
