MEMA: 2 injuries reported in Harrison County from flooding

(WJTV) —  The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said they’ve received a report that two people were injured in Harrison County due to flooding.

The National Weather Service says flash flooding will remain a possibility through the weekend, especially for south and coastal Mississippi.

MEMA created a list of places that are experiencing flooding so far:

  • Amite: Water rescues have been conducted throughout the day.
  • Copiah: Several roads affected.
  • Pike: Swift water rescue teams in the county.  Rescues have been conducted throughout the day
  • Harrison:
  • Hancock:
  • Wilkinson: Several roads affected.

The rain and floodwaters are also affecting other things. MEMA said  Amtrak has stopped its southbound train from Chicago to New Orleans at Jackson due to water on the tracks near Osyka, Miss.  The train company plans to bus passengers from Jackson to New Orleans.

MEMA urges the public to report damages and flooding to your local Emergency Management Agency.
