JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson State University held a “crop drop” Tuesday.
A crop drop when people gather to drop off excess crops at one location.
Organizers held the event in the parking lot in front Blackburn Middle School’s football field.
Many dropped off their produce while others came to collect them.
“What we are trying to do is what Jackson State believes in, which is feeding back into our community,” said Kendall Bunch, JSU’s student body president. “So we have people driving up, and we are loading potatoes in there, and these are all student workers, so this is just how we teach freshmen what Jackson State is really all about, which is pouring back into our community.”
The crop drop was incorporated as part of the new student orientation week at JSU.
