JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The man accused in a hit-and-run that killed two teenagers is now receiving additional charges.
Jackson Police said 50-year-old William Gilbert is now being charged with two counts of culpable negligent homicide.
13-year-old Bryan Jones and 15-year-old Promise Hampton died from their injuries.
They were walking on Northside Drive near Del Rosa Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday night. Police said a blue Jeep Cherokee left the scene after hitting the two victims.
Authorities found the car on Belmede Place. They arrested Gilbert Saturday and was charged with felony leaving the scene at this point of the investigation.
He appeared in court Monday, and his bond was set at $25,000.
He is now being charged with culpable negligent homicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
