JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A few Jackson council members are commenting on the sexual harassment lawsuit that was filed against the City of Jackson and Mayor Tony Yarber.
Councilman De’Keither Stamps and Councilman Ashby Foote are talking about the accusations.
Foote said if the allegations are true, Yarber should step down. Stamps believes the city’s budget should be everyone’s priority.
“As soon as this budget is over with we will delve into that personal issue with the mayor maybe involving some city employees, and city business, but right now I am focused on people’s jobs,” Stamps said.
“By all means, it is a very big distraction,” Foote said. “On the front end and undermines the credibility of city government and it casts a dark shadow or dark cloud over all the cities business.”
A budget meeting is set for September 13.
