JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reports there is a new case of the West Nile virus in Mississippi.
The newest case is in Copiah County.
That now brings the state-wide total to 15.
Cases have been reported in Calhoun, Chickasaw, Copiah, Hinds, Grenada, Lamar, Leflore, Lowndes, Perry and Rankin counties.
Mississippi had 38 cases and one death in 2015.
Also, MSDH reports a new case of the Zika virus; that now brings the total to 18.
The case was reported in Lamar County by a resident who recently traveled to Mexico.
