Six Days Later: Search for driver of submerged truck in Vicksburg continues

Authorities are still searching for the man whose truck went into a river in Vickburg last week.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace says his office has had boats in the water since last Tuesday searching for the body of Michael Collins.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is assisting with the search.

Sheriff Pace says that they are searching in areas downstream of where the truck went into the water almost a week ago.  This includes parts of Claiborne, Jefferson, and Adams counties.

Over the weekend searches were made from the skies overhead.

The United States Coast Guard has been broadcasting to commercial vessels to be on the lookout for any suspicious in the water.

Search efforts are continuing.  Sheriff Pace says that those efforts will be re-evaluated in a few days if Collins is not located.

He says that the water is “very strong and unpredictable.”  In places it is between sixty and seventy feet deep.

Officials have advised gator hunters to be on the lookout as well as their season opened last week.
