United Way of Southeast Mississippi is starting the 2016-2017 campaign season with a “CAN”PAIGN Kickoff on Sept. 8. Staff and volunteers will collect donated non-perishable food and pet supplies at Corner Markets in Hattiesburg (Midtown), Oak Grove (Old Hwy 11) and Petal between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The initiative will benefit Christian Services, Inc., Edwards Street Fellowship, Hub City Humane Society and Southern Pines Animal Shelter. “We introduced this event last year and raised over 4,000 pounds of food and supplies.
Because of this success, we are making it an annual event to get the community involved,” said Tracie Fowler, United Way of SEMS president. “We look forward to partnering with businesses and community members to help these non-profits stock up in preparation for the winter months and jump starting the campaign all in the same day.”
