MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Madison County Emergency Management Director Butch Hammack has been fired.
The decision to let him go was made Tuesday at the Madison County Board of Supervisors’ meeting.
They voted 4 to 1. Supervisor Gerald Steen was the only supervisor to vote against it. The Supervisors went into executive session and then voted during the meeting.
It’s unclear why Hammack was terminated.
Supervisor Paul Griffin told WJTV he voted against Hammack claiming the director has lied about projects and wasn’t managing the department well.
Hammack says, “”I’m leaving with my head held high. I left with my integrity intact. I never had to compromise my morals and my integrity and I’m thankful and proud of that.”
Tom Lariviere will serve as the Interim Madison County Emergency Management director.
