Northwest Rankin students honor those lost on 9/11

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) -Sunday marks 15 years since the 9/11 terror attack.

Several services and memorials are being held Friday and over the weekend to honor those who lost their lives.

Some students at Northwest Rankin honored the victims in a memorial walk.  This is the 9th year that the school held the event.

A balloon release was held and the students were joined by Veterans and other service members. Police blocked off a street for students to hold a Freedom Walk.

“Many of these student weren’t even born when we had 9/11,” said Principal Cara Killough. “So it’s important that they know our history, they know about where America has come from and where we’re going.”
