RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) — Two people are behind bars after being charged with felony exploitation of a vulnerable person.

The Attorney General’s Office said 42-year-old Renee Hope Netherland, who also goes by Renee Lester, and Henry Thomas McAlister were charged each with one count of the crime. They are both from Ridgeland.

A grand jury indicted both suspects after an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.

Netherland and McAlister are accused of using a debit card that belonged to a patient in a Jackson care facility. The withdrawals and purchases totaled $250 or more. They used the car without the victim’s consent.

If convicted, each defendant faces up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
