MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) – The police chief of Moss Point has resigned over a July 29 traffic stop in a neighboring jurisdiction, where police clocked him going more than 100 mph and did not cite him, even though he told them he’d had “at least three vodkas.”
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2cIynZ4) Art McClung submitted his resignation notice to the city on Tuesday. McClung has been relieved of his duties last week.
Pascagoula Police Chief Kenny Johnson said he told his officers to give McClung a ride home, and no ticket was issued.
Last week, Moss Point aldermen voted to end his employment and gave him seven days to resign or be fired.
