Blue Mass held for law enforcement officers at St. Richard

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Law enforcement officers and first responders put their lives on the line each day to save others.

They were honored during a special service at St. Richard Catholic Church. This was he second annual Blue Mass held there.

They said this is a way for members of the church to ask God to protect those that serve the community.

“Times do get hectic,” said Madison Police Chief Gene Waldrop. “This is a breath of fresh air for us to stop and reflect on the important things in life.”

After the Mass, everyone enjoyed a fellowship breakfast at the church.

Jackson Fire Department, JPD, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, Madison and Ridgeland Police all attended Wednesday’s service.
