BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) — A grocery store is back open in Brandon after the shopping complex it is located in was damaged by a fire.

Ramey’s on W. Government Street has opened its doors once again.

On September 3, the Dollar General next door caught on fire. The owner’s son told WJTV that day that the fire didn’t reach Ramey’s, but there was heavy smoke damage.

The groceries had to be removed from the store.

Fire officials said the heat was so intense that a firefighter was rushed to the hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion.
