JPS celebrates College Spirit Day

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Public School officials are letting their students know that their education doesn’t have to stop once they finish high school.

The school district held College Spirit Day 2016 on Friday.

Several JPS schools held pep rallies, step shows, and school spirit contests. The purpose of the event was to create a college-going culture among the District’s students from elementary school through high school.

College Spirit Day is an initiative of Parents for Public Schools of Jackson and the Ask for More Collaborative.

WJTV went to McWillie Elementary where the school hosted a tailgate lunch. College students also spoke to the students throughout the day. The attendees also saw a step show from some Jackson State students.
