New West Nile Virus case reported in Mississippi

MARION COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting a new case of West Nile Virus.

The case was reported in Marion County.

This brings this year’s total to 21 cases.

So far this year, human cases of WNV have been reported in Calhoun, Chickasaw, Copiah (2), Hinds (6), Grenada, Lamar (2), Lee, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes, Marion (2), Perry and Rankin counties.

There has been one WNV death reported in a Hinds County resident.
