JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A local charity has a major setback after a burglary.
A manager at Stewpot Community Services on Capitol Street tells WJTV that an air conditioning unit, wheel barrel and about $250 worth of meat were stolen.
We’re told this is not the first time this has happened. Stewpot workers said a burglary happens about twice a year. They said each time it happens, it sets them back.
Stewpot has been serving Jackson’s homeless and less fortunate community for decades. They rely on donations to keep them going.
The manager tells us they are in need of food staples; like canned goods, peanut butter and other nonperishable items.
He also says they are in desperate need of monetary donations right now.
If you are interested in helping you can drop off donations at their location at 1100 W. Capital Street, Jackson, or visit their website online for more information.
