CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) — Clinton Police and Fire Departments want businesses to help them cut down on false alarms.
Business owners are urged to visit the City of Clinton’s website and click on the Alarm Watch tab.
There, you can enter their business name, location and phone numbers for a primary and secondary contact. That way if emergency personnel is repeatedly called out, and nothing is wrong, the business owners can work with their alarm companies to fix the problem.
“The reason that it’s important is that we need to be patrolling the neighborhoods and businesses and not continually responding to false alarms, where it’s taking our services away from the city for something,” said Police Chief Ford Hayman.
Clinton firefighters average more than seven calls per shift. About 11 percent of those are false alarms.
