2 Jackson men indicted on drug charges

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) —  Two Jackson men are charged in a federal indicted  after a two-year investigation.

U.S. Attorney Gregory Davis said Rodney Nelson, who also goes by Rodney Davis, and Bennie Evans are facing federal drug charges.

Below is he list of charges Nelson is facing:

  • one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride  (also known as cocaine base and crack)
  • two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride
  • four counts of possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of crack
  •  one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
  • one count of possession with intent to distribute PCP
  • one count of carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Evans is facing the following charges:

  • one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute PCP
  • one count of possession with intent to distribute PCP

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine. If Nelson is convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 305 years in prison and over $30 million in fines.

More than a dozen agencies helped with the investigation.
