UPDATE: 09/22/2016 4:21pm The coroner has identified the woman as 49-year-old Lorinda Maxwell. An autopsy will be done to determine how she died.

UPDATE: 09/22/2016 8:50am Police tell WJTV that the woman’s body was found after a family member went inside the home and discovered her.
There were no signs of forced entry.
WJTV has exclusive video of a fight that broke out close to the home which is the scene of this morning’s death investigation. Sources tell WJTV that family members saw a man whom they thought had something to do with the death of the woman. Note that her identity has not been officially released.
The family members allegedly approached the man and a fight broke out.
Two people are being detained by police for questioning in the fight.
UPDATE: 09/22/2016 8:05am Chief Lee Vance of the JPD says that there are signs of trauma to the woman’s body, but they do not know yet how she died, or whether the trauma had anything to do with her death.
The coroner has not yet released any information and has not yet indicated whether the death is a homicide.
JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) – The Jackson Police Department is confirming the body of a woman has been found inside a home in Jackson this morning.
The woman, who has not been identified, was found at a house located at 1007 McDowell Road.
Police say this is being regarded as a “death investigation.” The cause of death is not known.
The location is down the street from what is being described as a “possible hostage (barricaded subject)” situation. At this time, JPD says, the two incidents “are not connected.”
