JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Some Provine High students and teachers were surprised Tuesday with a check presentation.
The award-winning teachers were selected from a field of more than 100 applicants. They were fighting for their share on $100,000 in Teacher Mini-grants.
JPS teachers can submit grant applications each spring.
Grant amounts ranging from $704 to $9,978.90 were awarded to 19 classroom, team, or school-wide projects.
The Junior League of Jackson and the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson partnered with JPS to provide funding for various projects that cannot be funded by normal budgeting processes.

- Casey Elementary School
- Dawson IB Elementary School
- Isable Elementary School
- Key Elementary School
- McWillie Elementary School
- Power APAC
- Provine High School
- Raines Elementary School
- Spann Elementary School
The total amount for grants for the 2016-17 school year is $100, 786.
