UPDATE: The Hinds County Sheriff’s department says their communications center & 911 dispatch phone lines have been repaired. (As of 9:33pm on Friday)
HINDS COUNTY, Miss. – Phone calls to the Hinds County Sheriff’s office are being sent to the Clinton Police Department.
The announcement from Sheriff Victor Mason comes after telephone lines including 911 lines were cut by a contractor Friday.
According to Mason’s office emergency and non-emergency lines were directed to the Clinton Police Department.
We are told the disconnection will not interrupt service for emergency responders.
“Thanks to the city of Clinton for aiding with this situation,” Mason said today.
Hinds County EOC Director, Ricky Moore and Sheriff’s personnel have worked through the day with AT&T to make sure public safety is not compromised.
We are told service will be back up within the next few hours.
