JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Some people living in Jackson are now getting a birds eye view on what it’s like to be a Jackson Police Officer.
It was a packed house at the Jackson Police Training Academy.
People from across the city are starting their journey in the week-long Citizens’ Police Academy.
Chief Lee Vance told them that throughout the week the participants will get a chance to go on a ride along with officers, visit a dispatch center and learn information from several places within the department.
“It’s a great opportunity for someone who only sees JPD from an article in the paper or a soundbite on television, an extended look at how the place operates,” said Chief Vance.
Chief Vance also told us some people have enjoyed the academy so much that they’ve participated several times.
