CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Clinton Police Department is investigating a report of firearm at Clinton High School over the weekend.
The gun was allegedly brought to the school’s homecoming dance according to a statement by Clinton Public Schools.
Clinton High School received a report Monday, September 3, 2016 that “a small caliber firearm” was on the school’s campus, in an unidentified student’s car, Saturday, October 1, 2016.
CHS officials contacted the student’s guardian and Clinton Police Department School Resource Officers upon receipt of the complaint.
Clinton Police searched the student’s car Monday and did not find a weapon.
However, the student did admit to having a gun on campus according to CPS officials.
Criminal charges have not been filed at this time.
In the school’s statement to WJTV, it says “the student will be disciplined according to district policy on possessing firearms on school property.”
